Kaifeng, a city in eastern Henan province, People's Republic ofChina, located along the south of the Yellow River, was flooded in1642 by Sun troops with water from the Yellow River to prevent thepeasant rebel Li Zicheng from. Approximately half of the 600,000residents of Kaifeng were killed by floods and famine andpestilence, making it one of the biggest causes of death in history.Flooding has become a major natural disaster because of the role of Huang he river.
