In 1931 the Yellow River flood (Huang He flood) is the largest naturaldisaster ever recorded with most of the casualties died of the twentieth century. Estimated number of people killed in the 1931flood ranged from 1 to 4 million people. Deaths caused by floodingis included victims of drowning, disease, famine, and drought.
The river is often called "China's sorrow" because millions ofpeople have been killed by flooding.
